Wenger Holds Talks With Strikers Agent To Discuss Potential £25m Move
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger met with the agent of Mario Balotelli on Monday to discuss a potential £25m switch to the Emirates at the end of the season.
The January transfer window may have slammed shut but clubs will still be working hard behind the scenes at identifying targets for the summer, so we’ll bring you all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, Gooner Mac brings us news of Arsenal’s interest in Mario Balotelli.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger met with the agent of Mario Balotelli on Monday to discuss a potential £25m switch to the Emirates at the end of the season, according to the Metro.
The controversial Italian striker has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks with Wenger understood to be keen on bringing him back to the Premier League just over a year after he joined AC Milan from Manchester City.
There were even reports earlier this month suggesting that new kit sponsors PUMA might be willing to part-fund the move as Balotelli is also on their books and they are apparently keen on having two of their biggest clients working together.
It seems we’ve now stepped up our interest with the Metro claiming that Wenger met with the 23-year-old’s agent, Mino Riola, in London on Monday to discuss a potential £25m summer move. The newspaper suggests that the talks went well and we’re now giving serious consideration to making a formal offer over the coming months.
A world class striker is clearly needed at Arsenal this summer but I have my doubts over whether Balotelli is a ‘Wenger-type’ of player. He’s been a hugely difficult character to control at every club he’s played for and Arsene doesn’t usually like to have that kind of player in his squad.
Perhaps Wenger is finally the man who can tame him, and if he could we’d certainly have an excellent player in our ranks. There’s no doubting Balotelli’s quality and he’s already scored 25 goals in 38 matches for a struggling Milan side since he joined them, so imagine what he could do with the likes of Ozil, Cazorla and Walcott supplying him next season.
