Wilshere Provides Injury Update After Agger Tackle Leads To Foot Scan
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has provided an injury update after being caught on the foot by a heavy tackle from Liverpool defender Daniel Agger last night
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has confirmed he’s already had a scan on his foot following a heavy tackle from Liverpool’s Daniel Agger last night but has played down suggestions he could miss Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Everton.
Wilshere was left in agony after Agger caught him on his right foot with a late challenge in the 10th minute of England’s 1-0 win over Denmark at Wembley on Wednesday night.
The 22-year-old received treatment but was able to play on before being substituted shortly after half-time for Southampton’s Adam Lallana, who impressed as he set up Daniel Sturridge for the hosts late winner.
Wilshere confirmed after the game that he’s already had a scan on his foot which is sore and bruised, but he’s played down suggestions he could be ruled out for any length of time after saying he’ll be ‘alright’. He told reporters.
“It is a bit sore, but just a bruise,” Wilshere told reporters after the match.
“I have had a scan already and I will be alright.”
This will come as a huge relief to Arsene Wenger as the Gunners boss would have been anxiously awaiting news on the midfielders fitness. The last thing the Frenchman needs is another injury to contend with ahead of that’s going to be a season-defining month.
Arsenal face Everton in the quarter finals of the FA Cup on Saturday before their second leg against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday night. The north Londoners then face Tottenham, Chelsea, Swansea, Man City and Everton in the league, so it will be important for Wenger to be able to call upon the services of Wilshere during this pivotal run.
