Liverpool Handed Double Injury Boost Ahead Of Man Utd Clash
Liverpool have been handed a double injury boost ahead of next weeks game with Man Utd as Mamadou Sakho and Lucas Leiva are set to return to action today.
Liverpool aren’t in action this weekend so they will be fully rested ahead of next weeks vital clash against Manchester United and they could have two important players back available for the game.
Boss Brendan Rodgers has been handed a timely boost ahead of the trip to Old Trafford with both Lucas Leiva and Mamadou Sakho confirming they will play for the reserves tonight after recovering from injury.
Leiva has been out of action since injury knee ligaments during a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa towards the end of January, and while he was initially expected to be sidelined for two months, he has returned ahead of schedule and is now on course to be in contention to face United.
Sakho has also been out in recent weeks with a hamstring strain but the Frenchman joined his team mate in taking to their official Twitter accounts to confirm they”ll play for the Under-21’s this evening as Alex Inglethorpe’s side take on West Ham at the Rush Green Stadium.
Should the two players come through the game unscathed and get a full weeks training under their belts next week, then they should be in contention to face United next weekend.
The news will come as a welcome boost to Brendan Rodgers as he prepares to take his side into the final 10 games knowing they have an excellent chance of not only securing a top-four finish, but also making a late push for the Premier League title.
Today I make my return with the reserve team.
I am glad that my recovery went very well and I am looking forward for the last 10 games.
