Kaboul Available To Face Arsenal After Successful Red Card Appeal
Tottenham have received a huge boost ahead of Sunday’s NLD with Arsenal after the FA rescinded the red card shown to Younes Kaboul against Chelsea on Saturday.
Tottenham Hotspur have received a huge boost ahead of Sunday’s North London derby with Arsenal after the FA rescinded the red card shown to Younes Kaboul during last weekend’s 4-0 defeat to Chelsea.
The French centre-back was shown a straight red by referee Michael Olivier shortly after half-time on Saturday after being adjudged to have fouled Blues striker Samuel Eto’o in the area – although replays showed there was very little contact.
Chelsea scored the resulting penalty and went on to win the game 4-0 to open up a seven-point advanced at the top of the Premier League table.
However, Spurs decided to appeal the decision and that appeal has been successful with the Football Association confirming this afternoon that following a hearing today, a claim for wrongful dismissal against Kaboul has been upheld.
Kaboul will now be available to face Arsenal in Sunday’s North London Derby at White Hart Lane, which will come as a welcome boost to Spurs boss Tim Sherwood who’s seen his defensive options limited in recent weeks.
Vlad Chiriches is already out with a back injury and Michael Dawson limped off on Saturday with what appeared to be a hamstring problem, so if Kaboul was suspended it would have left Sherwood with just Jan Vertonghen to call upon in the middle of his defence.
