Chelsea Linked With Move For €42.5m-Rated German Ace

As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Chelsea are linked with Sami Khedira.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is ready to raid his former club Real Madrid for €42.5m-rated midfielder Sami Khedira this summer, according to reports today.
Khedira has been restricted to just 11 league appearances this season after tearing knee ligaments back in November but he’s now on the verge of making his comeback and is still hopeful of forcing his way into the Germany squad for this summers World Cup.
While he’s been out, Luka Modric has struck up an impressive partnership alongside Xabi Alonso in the center of Real’s midfield and it seems the 27-year-old could have a tough job on his hands forcing his way back into Carlo Ancelotti’s starting eleven.
The Express claim that Blues boss Jose Mourinho is keen on being reunited with Khedira at Stamford Bridge and could offer him a chance at a fresh start here in the Premier League this summer.
Mourinho knows the player well having been Real boss when Khedira was signed from Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart in 2010, and he was one of the Portuguese coach’s closest allies during his time at the Bernabeu, so he could be open to a move to West London if it meant he would be guaranteed regular action.
However, the newspaper suggests that Madrid aren’t prepared to let the German international leave on the cheap and it would take an offer in the region of €42.5m (£35m) to persuade them to cash in this summer. But it remains to be seen whether Chelsea bosses will sanction such a bid for a defensive midfielder, particularly when clubs now have FIFA’s Financial Fair Play rules to adhere to.
Mourinho has openly admitted he wants to sign a world class striker this summer and they don’t come cheap, so he may have to sell before he can make any other big-money signings. David Luiz could be one that makes way if Mourinho does have his eye on Khedira, and the Brazilians sale would make sense far more than selling any of the clubs other key assets such as Oscar or Eden Hazard if the club do need to raise funds.
