Arsenal + Liverpool To Battle Over £20m-Rated 25-Goal Striker
Liverpool are ready to go head-to-head with Arsenal for the signing of £20m-rated Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony, according to newspaper reports today.
As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal and Liverpool are linked with Wilfried Bony.
Liverpool are ready to go head-to-head with Arsenal for the signing of £20m-rated Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony this summer, according to reports today.
The Ivory Coast international has enjoyed an excellent debut season in English football after scoring 25 goals in all competitions following his £12m move from Vitesse Arnham last summer.
Understandably, his impressive form has led to interest from the upper echelons of the Premier League with the Mirror claiming that Liverpool have now joined Arsenal in the race for the 25-year-old’s signature.
Recent reports have suggested that the Gunners have identified Bony as a potential new recruit with Arsene Wenger looking to bring in another striker to offer competition to Olivier Giroud next season after the north Londoners were left heavily reliant on the Frenchman last season.
However, it seems Arsenal are going to face some stiff competition in the form of Liverpool, with the newspaper claiming that Brendan Rodgers wants to take the Swansea hitman to Anfield to offer support to Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge next season.
The Merseysiders are expected to be active in the summer window as they prepare to return to the Champions League next season and it appears Rodgers is keen on adding to his striking options to help spread the extra work-load that the added European fixtures will bring.
The Mirror suggest that Swansea are willing to cash in on Bony if their £20m asking price is met, and that would be a decent price for a striker who is proven in the Premier League and still has his best years ahead of him.

It’s going to be interesting to see whether either Arsenal or Liverpool end up signing Bony, but I think he’d turn out to be a shrewd buy for either club if they manage to get a deal agreed for the Ivorian.
