Transfer News: Agent Confirms 25-Goal Striker Wants Move
The agent of Arsenal and Liverpool target Wilfried Bony has confirmed the £20million rated striker wants to join a big Premier League club this summer.
As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Wilfried Bony wants a big move this summer.
The agent of Arsenal and Liverpool target Wilfried Bony has confirmed the £20m rated striker wants to join a big Premier League club this summer, according to reports today.
Bony has just enjoyed an excellent debut season in England after scoring 25 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions for Swansea City following his move from Vitesse Arnham last summer.
His impressive form has understandably led to interest from the upper echelons of the Premiership with both Arsenal and Liverpool linked with a move for the 25-year-old in recent weeks, while Newcastle United have also been tipped to make a move.
However, Bony’s agent, Dalibor Lacina, has now been quoted as saying that his client has no intention of making a switch to St James’ Park this summer as he wants to move to a ‘top six’ Premier League side, which would put Arsenal and Liverpool right in the frame.
Lacina went on to claim that the Ivorian is valued at £20m and will also consider joining a major side in Europe.
“I spoke to Newcastle about Bony last summer. Newcastle should have bought Bony a year ago but they didn’t believe in him,” he told The Shields Gazette.
“They could have signed him for £10 million, but they said they weren’t sure if he was good enough, that he was only playing in Holland [with Vitesse]. Now he is worth £20m.
“The next step for Bony is a top-six team in England or a top team in Germany, Spain or France, or he will stay with Swansea.
“We have a certain strategy. Bony is in a totally different place to Newcastle and wants to move to a club with ambition. We have had no contact with Newcastle.” Lacina is quoted as saying by the Daily Star
Bony is currently preparing for Ivory Coasts World Cup opener against Japan and Arsenal and Liverpool may rue not making their move for the striker earlier as his value is likely to sky-rocket if he enjoys a positive showing in Brazil.
Arsene Wenger is expected to bring in another striker this summer to offer competition for Olivier Giroud while Brendan Rodgers is looking to build a squad capable of dealing with Champions League football next season, and Bony could prove to be a useful addition for either side.

He has now proven he can score goals in the English top flight and at 25, he still has his best years ahead of him and would no doubt improve further under the tutelage of managers like Wenger or Rodgers, so I think he’d be worth a punt.
