£35m Duo To Undergo Liverpool Medicals After Reds See-Off Late Interest From Spurs
Liverpool spending is set to continue with the club closing in on a £35m double swoop for Divock Origi and Lazar Markovic with the duo set to undergo medicals
The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Liverpool are set to seal a double swoop.
Liverpool summer spending looks set to continue as the club close in on a £35m double swoop for Divock Origi and Lazar Markovic with the duo set to undergo medicals on Merseyside, according to reports.
The Telegraph are one of several media outlets who are claiming this evening that the Reds have agreed a fee with Lille for Origi and the striker agreed personal terms following talks with Liverpool officials on Wednesday afternoon. The newspaper suggests the fee is in the region of £10m, but other outlets feel it could be nearer £6m.
At one point the move was in doubt as Tottenham are reported to have made a late hijack attempt, but the Telegraph states that the 19-year-old has rejected the chance to move to north London and will be heading to Anfield, with a medical now expected to be undertaken shortly.
However, the youngster won’t be available to Brendan Rodgers next season as Origi will go back to Lille on loan for the next 12 months before returning to Liverpool next summer to compete for a place in the Reds first team.
It appears Rodgers is also closing in on another big-money signing with the newspaper claiming that a deal for Lazar Markovic is also close after the club agreed a £25m fee with Benfica for the winger.
Widespread reports suggest the 20-year-old is now due on Merseyside imminently to undergo a medical and agree personal terms, as Rodgers continues to strengthen his squad ahead of the departure of Luis Suarez.
If Liverpool manage to get these two deals over the line it will take their summer transfer business up to five following the purchases of Adam Lallana, Emre Can and Rickie Lambert, and with Suarez expected to bring in around £70m, the spending looks set to continue.
