Liverpool Make Formal Enquiry For Spurs Target As Rodgers Eyes £30m Double Swoop
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is contemplating a £30m double swoop on Swansea for Ben Davies and Wilfried Bony after their proposed moves to Tottenham stalled
The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Liverpool eye Swansea duo.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is contemplating a £30m double swoop on Swansea for Ben Davies and Wilfried Bony – who are also attracting strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports today.
Davies has just enjoyed his second full season in the Swansea first team and has racked up over 80 appearances since making his first team debut in 2012 having come through the clubs youth system.
The Welsh international has been superb at left-back for the Swans so understandably his impressive form has led to interest from the upper echelons of the Premier League, with Tottenham and Liverpool both linked with the 21-year-old this summer.
Reports suggested that Davies could be on his way to White Hart Lane after new boss Mauricio Pochettino offered Gylfi Sigurdsson in exchange for the defender as he looks to bring in a new left-back to compete with Danny Rose next season.
Swansea have rejected the swap deal and although Tottenham are believed to be readying a new bid that will match the Welsh outfits £10m valuation, the Telegraph claim that Spurs now face some stiff competition from rivals Liverpool with the Reds contacting Swansea on Wednesday to express their interest in the youngster.
Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring in a left-back to offer competition to Jose Enrique and Jon Flanagan next year and the newspaper suggests that Davies has now emerged as a serious target for the Northern Irishman, and the club have made it clear they are willing to meet Swansea £10m asking price.
So it looks like it’s now going to be a straight fight between Spurs and Liverpool to see who can lure Davies away from the Liberty Stadium this summer and the two clubs could also be set to clash over striker Bony.
The Daily Mail claim that both clubs are keen on the £20m-rated striker after his excellent debut season in the Premier League, that saw him score 25 goals in 48 games following his move from Vitesse last summer.

Swansea appear resigned to losing the Ivory Coast international as they have already started looking for his replacement, with the club believed to have tabled a £6m bid for Watford’s Troy Deeney yesterday, so Spurs or Liverpool should be confident of getting a deal done if they are willing to stump up the £20m asking price.
