Arsene Wenger Lining-Up Stunning Late €100m+ Spending Spree
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is lining-up sensational late moves for world class trio Edinson Cavani, Marco Reus and Sami Khedira, according to reports.
The summer transfer window is now well under way and managers are working hard to strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Gooner Mac brings us news of a stunning spending spree by Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is lining-up sensational late moves for world class trio Edinson Cavani, Marco Reus and Sami Khedira, according to reports.
It’s been a busy window for us so far with Mathieu Debuchy, Alexis Sanchez, David Ospina and Calum Chambers all coming in and Wenger has already stated that he’s still in the market for further reinforcements.
Strengthening the defence is a priority following the sale of Thomas Vermaelen but despite the boss already hinting that he’s well stocked in the attacking department, the Express claim that the Frenchman is lining-up a sensational triple swoop for Cavani, Reus and Khedira.
The newspaper suggests that Arsene still wants to sign a proven striker to help ease the pressure on Olivier Giroud and will make a late push to try and force through a €63.5m (£51m) move for Cavani before the end of the month.
The Uruguayan international has been linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain this summer after complaining about having to play out wide and the Ligue 1 champions could be willing to cash-in to help fund a move for Angel Di Maria.
The Express also claim that Arsene is planning a late swoop for long-term target Marco Reus after German giants Bayern Munich dropped out of the race for the wingers signature.
Borussia Dortmund may be forced to sell this summer after the 25-year-old rejected a contract extension offer as his €25m (£20m) buy-out clause kicks in next summer. The Bundesliga outfit could command a much higher figure if they sold this summer and it seems we are ready to test their resolve over the coming weeks.
The third player apparently on Wenger radar is Sami Khedira. The midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates this summer and reports last month even suggested we had agreed a €25m fee with Real Madrid but the move stalled over the players excessive wage demands.
Khedira is expected to leave the Bernabeu after rejecting a new deal and the Express state that we will continue to pursue his signature until the close of the summer window in the hope that he drops his demands.
Obviously signing these three players would be a dream for Arsenal fans, but I’m afraid that’s all I think it is; a dream. There is virtually no chance Arsene will spend the €100m+ required to land all three players. The best we can hope for is he’ll push the boat out to bring in one of Cavani OR Reus and then still go for Khedira if the price was right.

It’s certainly going to be an interesting last two weeks of the window and I have a feeling Arsenal will do at least one more big deal, but signing Cavani, Reus and Khedira? I just don’t see it happening.
