Balotelli Confirms Move After Liverpool Agree €20m Deal With AC Milan
Mario Balotelli has confirmed he’s leaving AC Milan and his agent is due in London to discuss personal terms with Liverpool after a €20m deal was agreed.
The summer transfer window is now reaching its climax and managers are working hard to make some last minute additions to their squad, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Liverpool close in on Mario Balotelli.
Mario Balotelli has confirmed he’s leaving AC Milan and his agent is due in London to discuss personal terms with Liverpool after the Merseysiders agreed a €20m deal for the striker, according to reports today.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed earlier this week that he is still in the market for another striker following the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona and Balotelli has emerged as a potential target.
Speculation on Wednesday suggested that Liverpool had stepped up their interest in the controversial hitman by opening talks with AC Milan over a potential deal, with the Reds understood to be ready to offer the 24-year-old a four-year contract worth £90,000-a-week.
It seems things have now progressed overnight with reports in Italy today claiming that a €20m deal has been agreed between the two clubs and the strikers agent, Mino Raiola, is now flying over to the UK to discuss personal terms with Liverpool officials in London on Thursday afternoon.
Balotelli attended training with Milan this morning as normal but after his session he told a Sky Italia journalist that he was set to leave the club.
“This will be my last day in Milanello” Balotelli told the journalist
Obviously the striker made no reference to Liverpool being his next destination, but given the fact AC Milan have confirmed on their clubs in-house TV station that they are in deep negotiations with the Merseysiders, I think it’s safe to assume the Italian international is heading to Anfield.
The striker is certainly a divisive character as trouble seems to follow him wherever he goes, but there is no denying his talent when he’s on form. If this move does go through, the key for Rodgers and his team will be to keep Balotelli happy and to somehow tame his wild-side, as they’ll have a top class striker on their hands if they are able to do so.
