Manchester United have confirmed that Daley Blind will wear the No.17 shirt this season after he completed a £14m move from Ajax on deadline day.

United were linked with the Dutch international for much of the summer but finally made their move over the weekend when the club revealed they had agreed a fee with Ajax for his signature.

Blind soon arrived in England to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms, and once those formalities were concluded, United were able announce his signing on Monday afternoon with the former champions paying Ajax £14m for his signature.

The 24-year-old signed a four-year deal with the option of a fifth year, and the club have now revealed on Twitter that Blind has been handed the No.17 squad number for this season after it was vacated by Nani – who joined Sporting Lisbon last month.

The Dutchman made his name as a left-back but excelled after Frank de Boer converted him into a defensive midfielder last season, and Louis van Gaal is expected to play him alongside Ander Herrera in the center of the park in his new-look side at Old Trafford.

Blind was joined at United by Colombian star Radamel Falcao on deadline day, and you can find out what his squad number will be here.
