Liverpool Ace Offers Injury Update & Promises To Return Stronger Than Ever

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has given an update on his recovery from an ankle injury and has vowed to return stronger than ever.
Can only joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in July and enjoyed a promising pre-season before featuring in Premier League games against Manchester City and Tottenham in late August.
The midfielders progress was then cut short when he was ruled out for six weeks after picking up an ankle injury while playing for the German Under-21’s during the international break at the start of September.
The 20-year-old put in a superb display at the heart of midfield but with the German’s cruising to an 8-0 win over Romania, Can twisted his ankle and with boss Horst Hrubesch having already used his three subs, the Reds man was forced to limp through the final 10 minutes.
But the player has now told the Liverpool FC website that he’s working hard on his fitness and is confident he’ll return stronger than ever to fight for his place in Brendan Rodgers starting eleven.
“I’ve worked a lot on my fitness after the injury and I’m doing fine,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.
“I had a couple of problems in pre-season after I joined the club. Then I had two good games for Germany and I picked up the injury.
“I’ll get fit again and I’ll be stronger but that’s all part and parcel of football. I will definitely fight for the club and try to make sure we win every game, as will my teammates. I’ll give 100 per cent.
“I’ve got to say [the games against City and Tottenham] were not my best, because I was struggling a bit with a calf problem in both those games and that meant it was difficult to do everything at a high tempo.
“When I’m fully fit again I’ll be able to produce better performances. I’m really convinced of that.”
Can’s return will come as a welcome boost to Brendan Rodgers as with Joe Allen also sidelined in recent weeks, the Reds boss has had limited options to choose from in midfield.
As was reported last week, Can is now due to return to full training this week and has a chance to feature against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday afternoon.
