Arsene Wenger Confirms Duo Face Late Fitness Tests Ahead Of Burnley Trip
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Laurent Koscielny and Wojciech Szczesny will both face late fitness tests ahead of Saturday’s clash with Burnley.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Laurent Koscielny and Wojciech Szczesny will both face late fitness tests ahead of Saturday’s clash with Burnley.
Koscielny was forced off shortly after half-time during our 4-1 victory over Liverpool at the Emirates last weekend after complaining of a tight thigh.
Speaking to the media ahead of Saturday’s game against Burnley, Wenger has confirmed to reporters that the French centre-back will have a fitness test today to see if he’ll be in contention for the trip to Turf Moor.
However, the boss hinted that Koscielny should be available after saying that the scan he had on Wednesday ‘looked quite good’, but Gabriel Paulista is on stand-by to step in should he be ruled out.
Szczesny on the other hand failed to make the squad for Saturday’s win over Liverpool after picking up a minor rib injury in training last week.
Arsene revealed that the Polish international will also undergo a late fitness test but feels he has a ‘good chance’ to be available against Burnley.
If he is passed fit, then Szczesny will more than likely be named among the substitutes once again having lost his place to David Ospina in recent months.
Here’s what the boss had to say this morning:
