Arsenal To Submit £21m Bid For Bundesliga Attacker
Arsenal are set to try and hijack Juventus’ deal for Julian Draxler by tabling an offer worth £21.1m for the exciting young Schalke attacker.
With the summer transfer window in full swing, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the new season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Arsenal are ready to make their move for Julian Draxler…
Arsenal are set to try and hijack Juventus’ deal for Julian Draxler by tabling an offer worth £21.1m for the exciting young Schalke attacker, according to a report in the Telegraph.
Draxler is a name many Arsenal fans should be familiar with as he’s been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent transfer windows with the 21-year-old being quoted by the BBC earlier this year that he had turned down a move to North London in 2014.
Arsene Wenger has seemingly been keeping a close eye on his progress ever since and it appears the boss is now ready to try and lure the German international youngster to England once again this summer.
The Telegraph are citing reports coming out of Italy that claim we are set to hijack Juve’s proposed move by submitting a deal worth a total of £21.1m for the attackers services.
Draxler has been widely tipped to make the move to the Italian champions and the newspaper says he’s already agreed personal terms over a switch to Massimiliano Allegri’s team this summer.
However, with the deal not yet officially over the line, it seems Wenger is ready to try and derail proceedings with the Telegraph suggesting he’ll test Schalke’s resolve with a deal worth £17.6m up front and a further £3.5m in additional add ons.
It remains to be seen how such a bid would be received by the German outfit but I think it would be a great deal if we could snap Draxler up for around £20m considering we were being quoted well over £30m 12-18 months ago.
The playmaker has been with Schalke his entire professional career having joined the clubs youth set up as an eight year old in 2001 and he developed into one of the most highly-rated young attackers in European football.
His stock has fallen slightly over the past year due to a hamstring injury that restricted him to just 11 starts in all competitions last season but he’s still a huge talent and someone I’d love to see arrive at Arsenal this summer.

However, I have a feeling we’re a little too late to the party and Draxler will still end up joining Juventus. That might actually be a blessing in disguise as he’s not exactly the player we’re crying out for. We’d be better off spending the money on a striker or a defensive midfielder.
