Arsenal Star A Doubt To Face Hull After Picking Up Knock Against Chelsea

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin is a doubt to face Hull this weekend after being ruled out of training this week following his collision with Marcos Alonso

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin is a fitness doubt to face Hull City this weekend after being ruled out of training this week following his collision with Marcos Alonso, according to the Express.

Bellerin was substituted inside the opening 20 minutes of Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat at Chelsea last Saturday after being caught in the face by Alonso’s elbow as the Blues full-back headed home a controversial goal.

Gunners fans were understandably incensed that the crucial opener was allowed to stand as Alonso’s stray elbow had left Bellerin unconscious on the floor.

Arsene Wenger revealed after the game that the Spanish right-back didn’t know the score when he came round and given the new rules regarding player safety, it’s remarkable that we’re still debating over whether the goal should have stood.

The FA advise that players don’t play again for up to 14 days after being knocked unconscious but the final decision is down to the club to assess each individual situation.

And the Express are now citing a report from the Sun that claim’s Arsenal’s medical team have decided to give Bellerin a few days off with the 21-year-old not due back in training until Friday as he awaits the results of an MRI scan.

That will give the Spaniard just 24 hours to prepare for our clash with Hull on Saturday lunchtime and no doubt Hector will need to be assessed to see if he’s in a fit state to play this weekend.

The newspaper says that Arsenal are confident Bellerin hasn’t suffered any lasting damage but the defender is still considered as a major doubt to face Hull on Saturday.

Gabriel arsenal

Gabriel is on stand-by to deputise at right-back against the Tigers but thankfully the Express suggest that Bellerin should certainly be available for the first leg of our Champions League last-16 tie against Bayern Munich next Wednesday.

It will be a big blow if Bellerin is forced out of the Hull game as we desperately need to get back to winning ways this weekend and the Spaniard will be a huge miss down the right.

Gabriel struggled against Chelsea’s attack and although Hull will hopefully not pose quite as much threat as the league leaders, it will be great to have Bellerin back for the trip to the Allianz Arena next week.
