Arsenal are in talks with KAS Eupen over a potential £6.8m deal to sign Everton and Southampton target Henry Onyekuru this summer, according to Sky Sports News.

Arsene Wenger is yet to commit himself to a new contract at the Emirates but it appears the Frenchman is still pressing ahead with his summer transfer business and a new striker is on the agenda.

With the future’s of Alexis Sanchez and Lucas Perez in serious doubt, Arsenal are expected to sign at least one new forward this summer and it looks as though Wenger is already making moves in the market.

Sky Sports News are reporting that Arsenal officials have opened talks with KAS Eupen over the potential signing of striker Henry Onyekuru – who has a £6.8m buyout clause in his contract.

The 19-year-old has just come off the back of a sensational campaign that saw him score 24 goals in all competitions to finish the season as the Belgian top flights leading scorer.

That sort of form has seemingly caught the attention of Arsenal scouts and Sky Sports News sources say the striker is keen to secure a move to the Premier League this summer.

We aren’t the only club showing an interest as the news outlet says Everton and Southampton are also keen to bring Onyekuru to England but Arsenal are reportedly in the driving seat to secure a deal.

The Nigerian international is a versatile forward who’s capable of playing anywhere across the attack including on the wing and up front so he would be a useful member of the squad.

Onyekuru joined Eupen from the Aspire Academy in Qatar two years ago so he’s enjoyed a rapid rise in his career to date but it would be a huge jump in quality if he was to move to the Premier League this summer.

The youngster has a lot of raw potential but he’s certainly not ready to fill Sanchez’s boots just yet so I personally think Wenger is perhaps eyeing him as a potential replacement for Perez.

If he’s happy to be a squad player then Onyekuru could be an asset to Arsenal but if he’s wanting regular first team football then I think he’d be better off opting for the likes of Everton or Southampton.
