Liverpool are showing a keen interest in signing Ciro Immobile but could face competition from Chelsea for the prolific Lazio hitman.
The January transfer window is open and managers are working hard on strengthening their squads and identifying targets for the summer so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest rumours. Today, Liverpool and Chelsea are linked with Ciro Immobile…
Liverpool are showing a keen interest in signing Ciro Immobile but could face competition from Chelsea for the prolific Lazio hitman, according to Italian outlet Il Messaggero.
Immobile has played at several clubs throughout Europe having had spells at the likes of Juventus, Torino, Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla throughout his career while he’s also earned 35 caps for the Italian national team.
However, Immobile has really found his best form since joining Lazio in the summer of 2016 with the 28-year-old scoring an impressive 80 goals in his 112 games during his time at the Stadio Olimpico, making him one of the most prolific hitmen in Europe.
Understandably, the striker’s superb form in front of goal has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League as Il Messaggero claims Liverpool and Chelsea are showing a keen interest in bringing Immobile to England.
The Italian outlet says Liverpool will step-up their interest by sending scouts to watch Immobile in action during Lazio’s Serie A clash with Napoli this weekend as Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen his attack.
Liverpool have one of the most feared front-lines in world football but Klopp knows he needs more depth if they’re to compete on all fronts next season after seeing his side knocked out during the early stages of both domestic cups this season.
Dominic Solanke has joined Bournemouth while the futures of Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge are in doubt so Liverpool could be eyeing Immobile as the man to compete with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah up front.
Any potential move from Liverpool would come in the summer as Klopp is unlikely to make any serious additions to his squad this month but Il Messaggero claim Chelsea are ready to try and sign Immobile this winter.
Maurizio Sarri is in the market for a new frontman with Alvaro Morata being tipped for a move back to Spain and Immobile is seeming on his radar, however, Chelsea’s interest in the Lazio star may end if they tie up a deal to sign Gonzalo Higuain.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks and months but I think Immobile would be an excellent signing for Liverpool, or indeed Chelsea, if either club was able to lure him to England in the summer.
