Will 2020 be Liverpool’s year to finally win the Premier League?

Liverpool fans are praying that 2020 will be the year the club finally get their hands on the Premier League trophy.

Liverpool fans are praying that 2020 will be the year the club finally get their hands on the Premier League trophy.

The Merseysiders are one of the most successful teams in English history having won 18 league titles and 15 domestic cups while they won their 6th European cup with a 2-1 victory over Tottenham in last years Champions League final.

However, despite all their success, Liverpool have gone 29 long years since they last won the league title and they have never lifted the Premier League trophy since it’s inception in the 1992 season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side fell just short last season as they finished just one point behind champions Manchester City with a staggering 97 points – making them the most successful side to ever finish runners-up in the league.

It would have been painful for Liverpool to accumulate 97 points and still not win the title. Obviously winning the Champions League took the edge off their disappointment, but fans are desperate to end their wait for the league title and you can tell that is their focus this season.

Liverpool have started the campaign in ominous form by taking 31 points from their opening 11 games [W10 D1 L0] and they have opened up a six point lead over defending champions Manchester City.

The top two will meet at Anfield on Sunday afternoon in a game that could very well decide where the title ends up this season. Victory for Liverpool would extend their lead to nine points and it would be extremely difficult for City to claw back that advantage. However, an away win would see City close the gap to just three points and the momentum would have swung their way.

Ahead of the game, bookmakers have Liverpool priced as the 4/5 favourites to win the Premier League this season and any new casino 2020 UK would slash those odds further if Klopp can get the better of Pep Guardiola on Sunday.

However, any Man City fans who’re confident of a win at Anfield may be tempted to back their team at odds of 11/10 to defend their title as those odds will be shortened should the Citizens leave with all three points this weekend.

It’s certainly going to be an interesting game on Sunday but Liverpool have a formidable record at Anfield as they haven’t lost in over 40 games at home. If they can maintain that record this weekend then 2020 should be the year Liverpool finally get their hands on the Premier League trophy.
