England are back at Wembley as they play host to Denmark in the semi-finals of the 2020 European Championships on Wednesday night.

The Three Lions booked their place in the semi’s after thrashing Ukraine 4-0 on Saturday night with Tottenham Hotspur hitman Harry Kane scoring twice in Rome to secure a comfortable win for England.

It means Gareth Southgate’s men have reached their second consecutive semi-final at a major international tournament having also made it through to the last-4 at the 2018 World Cup. Although Southgate has made it clear he expects his side to go one step further this time around having been beaten by Croatia three years ago.

England favourites

England should be confident of doing the business on Wednesday night as they are the 4/6 favourites with Coral to win inside the 90 minutes and 1/3 to qualify for the final. Denmark are priced at 9/2 to win the game in regulation time and 9/4 to progress to the final while the draw is available at odds of 11/4.

So the bookmakers clearly see England as the favourites to win at Wembley and it couldn’t be easier to place your bet if you want to back them. Most punters will know how to open a Coral account by now so all you need to do is log in, make your selection and place your bet. England to win 2-0 looks a good bet at 6/1 and if we add Harry Kane as first goal-scorer the odds increase to 11/1.

This is a terrific opportunity for the Three Lions to reach the final of a major competition. Not only do England have more quality than their opponents but they’ll have home advantage with the vast majority of the Wembley crowd expected to be supporting the Three Lions.

Denmark impress

However, let’s not underestimate the Danes as they’ve proven to be the surprise package at Euro 2020. The players have recovered remarkably well from the dramatic collapse of Christian Eriksen in their opening group game and they’ll no doubt be using that as a motivating factor.

Denmark made it out of Group B by the skin of their teeth after finishing second on goal difference but they’ve looked excellent in the knockouts having thrashed Wales 4-0 before easing past the Czech Republic 2-1 in the quarter-finals.

They’ll now be desperate to pull off the shock of the tournament by beating England in the semi-finals to reach the final of a European Championships for the first time since they won it in 1992.

Saka to return?

Buyako Saka missed England’s win over Ukraine due to injury but the Arsenal attacker is expected to be fit to face Denmark and could be recalled on Wednesday night. Jadon Sancho impressed in patches but he’s probably the man to make way if Saka is recalled.

Jack Grealish is also pushing for a recall after failing to feature in the last round while Phil Foden and Marcus Rashford are also in contention so Southgate has plenty of attacking options at his disposal.

Jordan Henderson could also make his first start of the tournament having come off the bench to score at the weekend but Southgate may be reluctant to make too many changes from a side that won 4-0 last time out.

Denmark are likely to remain unchanged from the side that beat the Czech Republic as Kasper Dolberg should keep his place up front ahead of Yussuf Poulsen after scoring the winner on Saturday.

Prediction: England 2-0 Denmark
