Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Villarreal forward Georges Mikautadze, as per the Lilywhites insider Paul O’Keefe.
After joining Olympique Lyonnais from Metz in 2024, the 25-year-old enjoyed a promising campaign, scoring 17 goals and registering nine assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.
Having been impressed by his performances, the Yellow Submarine decided to purchase him last summer. He showcased his productivity in La Liga last term, netting 15 goals and notching up six assists in 42 appearances in all tournaments.
He even helped his side qualify for next season’s Champions League by finishing third in the Spanish top-flight. Having proven his worth in club football, Mikautadze has secured his place in the Georgia national team’s starting line-up.
Now, on X, O’Keefe(via Givemesport) reports that Tottenham are interested in upgrading the attacking department this summer and Mikautadze is one of the key targets.
The forward is valued at around £22m by Football Transfers and still has a contract until 2031. Therefore, Villarreal aren’t in any rush to sell him this summer.
He is a right-footed centre-forward but is also comfortable with his wrong foot. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, and is efficient in linking up the play. Moreover, he can finish off his chances and also works hard without possession.
Mikautadze to Tottenham
Tottenham currently have Dominic Solanke and Richarlison as options to deploy in the No.9 position. However, the Englishman struggled with fitness problems last term.
On the other hand, although the Brazilian was Spurs’ highest scorer last season, he has entered the final few months of his current contract. So, speculation surrounding his future has been emerging in recent times.
Mikautadze is a talented player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. Therefore, the Georgian international would be a shrewd acquisition for Tottenham should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have already bolstered several areas of the squad by signing Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Martin Dubravka, Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali this summer.
