Man Utd in talks to sign Louis Page from Leicester

Manchester United are in talks over a deal to sign highly rated England U21 international midfielder Louis Page from Leicester City this summer, according to the BBC.

Page joined Leicester City at the under-nine level and progressed through the academy before receiving his first-team opportunity against Huddersfield Town in the Carabao Cup in August 2025.

Despite being only 18, the youngster has quickly made the step up to senior football with the Foxes. The England Under-20 international has already accumulated 22 first-team appearances for Leicester, including five Championship starts during their relegation campaign.

His breakthrough year was particularly impressive, earning him the EFL Apprentice of the Year award even though Leicester ultimately dropped into League One.

He most recently featured as a 79th-minute substitute in Leicester’s League Cup victory over Northampton Town on Saturday, with the Foxes now preparing to begin their League One campaign away to Notts County on Saturday.

However, it appears Page may not be part of the game, as the BBC reports that Man Utd are working on a deal to sign the 18-year-old.

‘Very gifted’ midfielder

While Premier League champions Arsenal, as well as Aston Villa, have expressed interest in the 6ft 1in midfielder, United are already in active talks to reach an agreement for his transfer to Old Trafford this summer.

Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe became a minority shareholder at United, the club have increasingly prioritised youth in their recruitment strategy, targeting emerging talents with considerable scope for growth.

Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell have played influential roles in shaping that philosophy, drawing on their previous experience in youth development at Manchester City and within the Red Bull network.

That policy has already resulted in the arrival of several promising youngsters, including Harley Emsden-James, Enzo Kana-Biyik, Ayden Heaven, Chido Obi and Diego Leon. Cristian Orozco is the latest addition to that growing group.

The emphasis on developing young players has also extended to Carrington, where academy prospects Shea Lacey and JJ Gabriel have been given opportunities to train alongside the first team under Michael Carrick.

Described as ‘very gifted’, Page would be another exciting addition to the club’s project as they continue their youth recruitment strategy that has also brought in Tynan Thompson from Tottenham Hotspur.
