Liverpool battling with Everton & Arsenal to sign Osorio

Liverpool are reportedly battling with Arsenal and Everton over a deal to sign FC Midtjylland forward Dario Osorio, as per TEAMtalk.

Following Mohamed Salah’s departure, the Reds have signed Victor Munoz from Osasuna this summer, but the Spaniard isn’t a like-for-like replacement for the Egyptian.

Andoni Iraola currently has Munoz plus Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha and Federico Chiesa as options to deploy on the flanks. But Gakpo has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, while Chiesa has struggled to find his feet in the Premier League since joining from Juventus.

On the other hand, Ngumoha is still very young and his game time needs to be managed carefully to help him reach his full potential. So, Liverpool want more wingers despite already signing Munoz.

The Merseyside club have been heavily linked with a move for Bradley Barcola, and he is perhaps seen as a potential replacement for Gakpo. So, Liverpool also want a right winger and have launched a formal £50m bid to sign Yankuba Minteh from Brighton and Hove Albion.

However, the Seagulls have rejected the proposal as they want more. Therefore, it appears Iraola’s side are also lining up cheaper alternative options if they fail to sign the African.

Now, TEAMtalk state that Liverpool are interested in Osorio and have been monitoring his development before making a potential swoop. Although the 22-year-old’s existing deal is set to run until 2030, Midtjylland are prepared to cash in on him for a fee of around £17m this summer.

However, Liverpool will have to overcome fierce competition to finalise the operation as Leeds United and Everton have also been keeping a close eye on him. Moreover, Arsenal have been showing an interest in him since last summer. Apart from the Premier League clubs, AC Milan are also interested in him.

Osorio is a left-footed right winger and has enjoyed a bright start this season, registering two assists in three Danish Superliga matches.

Everton decided to reinforce the right flank by purchasing Tyler Dibling last summer, but he endured a disappointing campaign last term.

On the other hand, Arsenal already have Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke as options to deploy on the right wing. So, the Gunners don’t need to add further depth to this position unless anyone leaves.
