Liverpool looking to beat Tottenham Hotspur to sign Hull City goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis

Hull City have made a resounding return to the Premier League this season with only two goals conceded in their first five outings. Understandably, the exploits of some of their players have not gone unnoticed amongst the bigger sides.

Caught Offside has reported that Liverpool are keeping tabs on goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, and could consider signing him next summer. Tottenham Hotspur are also eyeing a move for the Greek international, as per the source.

With Alisson Becker aged 34 and leaning towards the end of his career, Liverpool need a suitable replacement in between the sticks as Giorgi Mamardashvili’s performances have not been convincing enough for him to take over as their number one.

As per the report from Caught Offside, Tzolakis is valued by Hull City at £40 million, with the club accepting that consistent performances in the English top flight could mean several of their key players end up moving on to other clubs.

Liverpool set to be favourites for Tzolakis over Spurs

It is fair to believe that Liverpool would be firm favourites to sign Konstantinos Tzolakis from Hull City over Tottenham Hotspur. They have enjoyed more success lately and may play in next season’s Champions League, which is already a tall order for Spurs.

Spurs also have Antonin Kinsky, who took over from Guglielmo Vicario as their number one, so if Tzolakis joins them, it is likely that he will have a strong competition for regular minutes – which does not seem to be the case at Anfield.

Konstantinos Tzolakis would be an excellent addition for Liverpool. At a height of six feet and four inches, the 23-year-old commands the goal really well, is confident handling crosses into the box and does well to come off his line to clear the ball too.

Having been at Olympiacos earlier on, Tzolakis has a reasonable amount of experience under his belt and all things point towards him being a worthy replacement for Alisson Becker at Liverpool.
