Munoz replaces Gakpo: Predicted Liverpool XI vs Manchester City

Liverpool 2-2 Nottingham Forest: Victor Munoz rescues point for sloppy Reds | The Standard

Liverpool will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League season as they face Manchester City at Anfield in their first match back from the international break tomorrow at 16:30 local time in their matchday six fixture.

Andoni Iraola’s side beat his former employers, Bournemouth, last time and face arguably their toughest test so far under him as they take on Enzo Maresca’s charges, who have won all their top-flight matches in the new season.

Here is a look at how the home side is expected to line-up

Goalkeeper – Alisson Becker is expected to keep his place in goal ahead of Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Defenders – Jeremy Jacquet has consolidated his position in Liverpool’s backline lately and could continue as the central defender against Manchester City, partnering with Virgil van Dijk in the process. Ronald Araujo is also likely to be picked at right back over Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez might retain his place on the left for the home side as well.

Gakpo injured, Munoz comes in

Midfielders – Ryan Gravenberch has been on the periphery for much of this season for Liverpool, and is expected to be on the bench once more as Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai are the favourites to retain their berths in the double pivot. Florian Wirtz, on the other hand, could also play as the attacking midfielder.

Cody Gakpo is injured, however, so £35 million summer recruit Victor Munoz could replace him on the right flank. Another acquisition from this year, Bradley Barcola, could feature on the left wing.

Striker – Alexander Isak is expected to be the solitary striker for Liverpool against Manchester City off the back of some very good form and Hugo Ekitike’s injury absence.

Here is a look at how the home side’s starting eleven is expected to look on paper.
