Arsenal and Liverpool had busy transfer windows this summer as they revamped a number of areas in their respective squads, but both sides are still believed to be keen on doing some business next year to add to their quality and depth.
Fichajes has reported that the Reds and the Gunners are interested in signing Villarreal midfielder Alberto Moleiro, who has made an impressive start to La Liga this season with two goals and three assists in eight games.
The former Las Palmas player has emerged as a key fixture in Inigo Perez’s plans, and the Yellow Submarine’s Champions League participation this season has meant that his talent is receiving widespread exposure.
Within Spain, the 23-year-old is a highly regarded attacking midfielder, with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona also believed to be keen on his acquisition in the near future. Villarreal are valuing him at £51 million, as per journalist Ekrem Konur.
Liverpool may look to materialise interest in Moleiro
Liverpool’s investment in Florian Wirtz has not yielded the necessary results for them. Given a lack of depth in midfield already, they could look to sign Alberto Moleiro from Villarreal if he continues his impressive form over the next few months.
Moleiro is a vintage number 10, who excels in changing direction, breaking defensive low blocks with high-precision through balls and making late runs into the box. He also positions himself intelligently, making the most of pockets near the edge of the area.
At £51 million, he promises to be a brilliant young investment for the Reds, who may trump Arsenal to his signatures essentially because the Gunners may be driven away by a slightly lofty price tag, especially for a player in whose position they already have Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard, while Eberechi Eze is a handy option too.
Wirtz’s form in the next few months could go a long way in influencing whether Liverpool are prepared to materialise their interest in Moleiro, who will also remain a hot property to keep tabs on amongst Spain’s biggest clubs.
