Martinez, Fernandes and Cunha return: Predicted Manchester United XI vs Chelsea
Manchester United are now without a win in eight matches in all competitions after losing 3-0 to Bournemouth last weekend. The Red Devils face a race against time to turn the results around, with pressure increasingly high on Michael Carrick.
On matchday nine of the Premier League, they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as they look for a vital result against the Blues in their fixture at 12:30 local time on Saturday, October 31st. Here is how the visitors might line-up for the clash.
Goalkeeper – Senne Lammens is expected to continue in between the sticks for Man United.
Defenders – Leny Yoro has been playing as the right back in the last few games and could continue to feature out-wide once again, and with no news yet on Luke Shaw’s fitness, Diogo Dalot might retain his berth at left back. Ayden Heaven might drop out to make way for Lisandro Martinez in the heart of the backline, with the Argentine expected to feature alongside Harry Maguire.
Fernandes back at number 10 while Cunha also returns
Midfielders – Carlos Baleba is yet to fully settle in at Manchester United, so the former Brighton & Hove Albion star might drop out of the line-up against Chelsea this weekend. That means Andrey Santos, who returns to Stamford Bridge for the first time since moving on this summer, is likely to play next to Youri Tielemans in the double pivot.
Bruno Fernandes, meanwhile, is set to return at number 10 having spent the entirety of the last match on the bench. Michael Carrick confirmed in his pre-match press conference that he will count on the Red Devils’ captain during their visit to London this weekend.
Amad Diallo is likely to retain his place on the right wing, but a change might be in store on the left as £63 million star Matheus Cunha is expected to replace Mason Mount.
Forward – Bryan Mbeumo is expected to continue as the number nine for Man United.
Here is a look at Manchester United’s possible eleven on paper.
