Manchester United keen on signing Ivan Toney from Al-Ahli in 2027

Manchester United’s ship is steadied for now as they secured a vital 3-2 win over AS Roma on Tuesday in the Champions League, with Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha helping overturn a two-goal deficit to seal victory after a nine-match winless run.
Cunha’s second goal was particularly well taken and though he is able to supply the goods in the final third, Bryan Mbeumo is being tasked with playing as the centre forward owing to Benjamin Sesko’s injury.
Sesko’s fitness woes will now keep him out until January, and Joshua Zirkzee’s lack of impact means United are prepared to enter the transfer market in the January transfer window to bring in a new number nine.
Football Insider has reported that Al-Ahli marksman Ivan Toney has been identified as a potential solution, with the 30-year-old in excellent form for the Saudi Pro League giants after bagging 14 goals and two assists already this season across competitions.
His contract with the Middle Eastern outfit expires in June 2028 and at a valuation of only £13 million on Transfermarkt, the Red Devils could see tremendous value in bringing in an in-form number nine, who has rich Premier League experience too.
Toney a brilliant medium-term addition for United
Ivan Toney would be a solid signing for Manchester United in the medium-term as they await on Benjamin Sesko to return from injury. Though the Slovenian may be the primary option up top soon, the English attacker will be a handy asset to have.
Toney’s understanding of the Premier League, coupled with his clinical finishing, sharp positioning in the box and link-up play will be vital in ensuring the Red Devils have sufficient options and depth to pick from off the bench.
A new number nine’s signing could especially give United momentum in the FA Cup, which is practically the only competition they can win this season, while Toney’s goals can also help them thrust upwards in the Premier League standings.
Given that Toney is likely to be on a massive wage in Saudi Arabia, it remains to be seen if he is ready to make a financial sacrifice to return to the Premier League as Man United are unlikely to be in a position to match his current salary.
