Chelsea hold discussions to sign Club Brugge’s Nicolo Tresoldi

Chelsea have reportedly held discussions over a deal to sign Club Brugge forward Nicolo Tresoldi, as per the Blues’ transfer journalist Simon Phillips.
Xabi Alonso currently has João Pedro and Danny Welbeck as striker options. The Brazilian has been an undisputed starter in the CF position but has been out injured in recent weeks.
On the other hand, Welbeck has found it difficult to break into Alonso’s starting line-up since joining from Brighton and Hove Albion last summer.
Moreover, he has reached the twilight of his career; as a result, it appears the West London club have started exploring options to purchase a new No.9.
Now, Phillips, who has almost 500k followers on X, reports that Chelsea have accelerated their efforts to sign Tresoldi after monitoring his development closely in recent times. They have already held internal discussions over a potential swoop.
The 22-year-old is valued at around £29m by Transfermarkt and still has a contract until 2029. Therefore, the Belgian giants are in a strong position to demand a big fee if they are forced to cash-in.
After joining Club Brugge from Hannover 96, Tresoldi showed glimpses of his qualities last term, scoring 23 goals and registering seven assists in 57 appearances across all competitions.

Moreover, he helped his side win the Belgian Pro League and Super Cup. However, he has taken his game to another level this season, scoring 14 goals and registering a solitary assist in 16 appearances in all tournaments.
The youngster is a 6ft 1in tall right-footed striker and is efficient in finishing off his chances. Moreover, he can link up play and works hard without possession.
The Club Brugge star is a talented player and possesses high potential. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Chelsea should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the West London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services in January or next summer.
Meanwhile, following a comfortable 2-0 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League, the Blues are set to face bottom side Sunderland this weekend before the November international break.
