Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Linked With Shock Swoop

Arsenal manger Arsene Wenger has identified Sunderland ace Kieran Richardson as a potential January addition, according to the Daily Mirror.
Richardson started his career as a midfielder but has been impressive at left back in recent seasons and this versatility has interested Wenger, who is desperately trying to bring in a full back following a spate of injuries in that department.
The 27-year-old moved to Sunderland in 2007 for £5.5m from Manchester United and the Daily Mirror reports today that Arsenal are considering making a move this January. It’s claimed the London-born ace is considering his future and is keen to return to the capital, so a move to Arsenal could suit both parties.
Sunderland may also be keen to cash in with Martin O’Neil requiring funds to start his rebuilding project at the Stadium of Light following his recent appointment as Steve Bruce’s successor.
The move would however, be seen as something of a shock as Richardson is not the typical Wenger signing and the Frenchman has hinted he is only looking to bring in a loan signing rather than someone on a permanent deal.
