Arsene Plans To Splash £70m On Three Of Germany’s Finest
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is lining up a £70m triple raid for Borussia Dortmund duo Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze as well as Bayer Leverkusen’s Lars Bender
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal are linked with a triple swoop on the Bundesliga.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is lining up a sensational £70m triple raid on Germany this summer as he prepares to break the clubs transfer record in order to bring top talent to north London, according to the Mirror.
While we’ve seen something of a return to form in recent weeks, this season has been hugely disappointing for Arsenal. We were knocked out of the domestic cups to lower league opposition, knocked out of the Champions League at the last 16 stage and were out of the Premier League title race by Christmas. So it’s understandable many Gooners have been calling for heavy investment this summer.
Well it appears we may get our wish as the Mirror claim that boss Arsene Wenger is targetting three players, all of who play in the German Bundesliga, and is preparing to break the clubs transfer record to bring them to the Emirates at the end of the season.
The report suggests the boss is ready to splash around £70m on Borussia Dortmund duo Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze along with Bayer Leverkusen’s Lars Bender as he looks to rebuild his squad this summer.
The newspaper claims Wenger is keen to land a striker and is ready to go head-to-head with Man Utd and Chelsea for the £25m-rated Lewandowski, while he’s also set to step up his interest in midfielders Gotze and Bender after sending chief scout Steve Rowley to watch the players in recent months.
All three would be excellent signings but you’d have to ask why Lewandowski and Gotze would leave defending Bundesliga champions Dortmund to come to Arsenal. Even if they do decide to leave Germany I’m sure we wouldn’t be the only club interested and there would likely be some clubs out there who’d offer a lot higher wages than we would.

So while it’s always nice to be linked with top quality players, you have to be realistic. So I’m not going to be getting my hopes up that this lot will be at Arsenal next season.
