Moyes Blow As £22m Ace Snubs United In Favour Of ‘Dream’ Chelsea Move
Luke Shaw is ready to snub a £22m move to Manchester United and stay with Southampton until the end of the season in order to make a ‘dream’ move to Chelsea
With the January transfer window entering it’s final stages clubs are working hard to try and strengthen their squad for the second half of the season, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, Luke Shaw wants a move to Chelsea.
Luke Shaw is ready to snub a potential £22m move to Manchester United and stay with Southampton until the end of the season in order to make a ‘dream’ move to Chelsea, according to the Mirror.
Shaw has emerged as one of the best young talents in England after a superb 18 months at left-back for Southampton since breaking in to the first team set-up last season.
His solid defending combined with adventurous attacking play has seen him attract interest from the upper echelons of the Premier League with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United both strongly linked with a move.
Reports earlier this week suggested that United had topped Chelsea’s previous £21m bid with a £22m offer for the 18-year-old and are keen on tying up a deal before Friday’s deadline.
However, it seems that might not be enough to lure the defender to Old Trafford with the Mirror claiming that Shaw will turn down a switch to the champions and wait for a summer move to Chelsea.
The youngster is a boyhood Blues fan and the newspaper suggests he has his heart set on moving to Stamford Bridge with Jose Mourinho eyeing him as the long-term successor to Ashley Cole.
The report states that neither Chelsea or United have met the Saints valuation of the player yet and with Shaw in no rush to move this month, it seems any potential transfer will take place at the end of the season.
After watching Shaw closely during Southampton’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Tuesday night it’s easy to see why he’s attracted a lot of interest. He was superb throughout the game and would be an excellent replacement for either Cole at Chelsea or Evra at United.
But it appears the player has his heart set on moving to west London, if this reports is to be believed, so United boss David Moyes may have to keep looking if he wants to find a left-back either now or in the summer.
