Arsenal Ready To Change Style To Get Back To Winning Ways
Written by Fab4.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to change the way his side approach home games in order to tackle those teams who play a deep back line against them.
The Gunners have now lost to both Newcastle and West Brom at home in recent weeks, while we also struggled against both West Ham and Birmingham at the Emirates. Wenger is keen to tackle this problem and feels a change in tactic may be the answer:
“I can’t deny that in the last four home games we have not absolutely made a demonstration of football,” he told Arsenal.com.
“We had problems to win the games. We might find a way to play a bit more direct in some situations because everybody drops deep against us and as soon as you make a mistake it becomes even harder.
“For example on Sunday clearly I think we were serious but we didn’t create enough. We looked at some stage that we could play for a while without scoring a goal and that is of course a worry.
If by ‘direct’ Arsene means more of the insane long-balls up to Walcott and Arshavin that we witnessed against Newcaslte, i think he needs to go back to the drawing board. But if the plan is to move the ball quicker through midfield to attack i couldn’t agree more. Let’s try and get that quick tempo back and the goals will flow!
What do Arsenal fans think, is a more direct approach the answer to breaking down the defensive minded teams?
