Manchester United will be hoping to make it six consecutive victories in a row when Liverpool head to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. Here is the side I think Lousi van Gaal will select:
Goalkeeper: David De Gea has arguably been United’s best performer this season so there’s no doubt he’ll start in goal again on Sunday.
Defence: Chris Smalling is out for two weeks with a hamstring injury that he picked up against Southampton on Monday night so Jonny Evans is expected to get a recall after getting another full weeks training under his belt. Luke Shaw remains on the sidelines while Phil Jones and Rafael are still short of match fitness, so Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young should start in the full-back slots.
Midfield: Daley Blind remains out with a knee injury while Angel Di Maria hasn’t yet recovered from a hamstring injury so van Gaal has few options to mix things up. Michael Carrick will therefore start in front of the back four with Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini expected to join him in midfield.
Attack: Robin van Persie was back among the goals with a brace last time out so will no doubt retain his place alongside Wayne Rooney up front. Radamel Falcao is pushing for a start but may not be considered fully match fit just yet. Juan Mata is favourite ahead of Adnan Januzaj to start in the hole behind the front two.
Here if how I think we’ll see United line-up:
