Manchester United moved four points clear of Manchester City after beating their bitter rivals 4-2 at Old Trafford this afternoon.

City actually started the brighter of the two sides and opened the scoring in the 8th minute when David Silva squared for Sergio Aguero to tap home for 0-1.

However, United turned things around before half-time when Ashley Young was on hand to bundle the ball home at the far post for 1-1 before Marouane Fellaini headed past Joe Hart to make it 2-1 in the 27th minute.

The hosts then made it 3-1 midway through the second half when Wayne Rooney sent Juan Mata clear and the Spaniard slotted through the legs of Hart for 3-1 before Chris Smalling headed home a fourth just 5 minutes later.

City grabbed a late consolation as Aguero slotted home from 12 yards but United saw out the remaining few minutes to secure a 4-2 victory and move four points clear in third, while Arsenal are now only one point ahead in second.
