Arsenal Team News: Wenger Confirms Duo To Return v Liverpool + Sanchez Update
Arsene Wenger expects to have two of his first team regulars back when Arsenal take on Liverpool on Wednesday plus he gave an update on Alexis Sanchez
Arsenal will look to tighten their grip at the top of the Premier League table when they take on Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Ahead of the game, Arsene Wenger has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this morning and has given reporters a team news and injury update.
The Gunners boss confirmed that Mesut Ozil and Mathieu Flamini should be back in the squad after the duo were rested for our FA Cup victory over Sunderland on Saturday.
David Ospina was in-line to start against the Black Cats at the weekend but he was forced to miss the game duo to a minor groin injury and the Colombian international will face a late fitness test to see if he can travel to Anfield on Wednesday.
Wenger also gave an update on Alexis Sanchez and unfortunately it looks like the Liverpool game will come too soon for the Chilean super-star as he’s still not completely recovered from a hamstring injury that’s kept him out for over six weeks.
The Arsenal boss confirmed that Sanchez is keen to get back on the pitch as soon as possible and he could be in contention to make his comeback for Sunday’s trip to the Britannia Stadium to take on Stoke.
Here is what the Gunners boss told reporters this morning:
At Colney. Wenger: "We should have Ozil and Flamini availale. We have to test Ospina. Sanchez, the Liverpool game will come too soon."

"Maybe Sanchez will be (ready) for Sunday," said Wenger. "He is always keen to play even if he is injured." #AFC

Arsenal fans will be hoping Ozil is now well rested and can continue his fine recent form when he returns to the starting eleven on Wednesday as the German schemer has been outstanding so far this campaign.
Obviously it’s a big blow that Sanchez isn’t available but the North Londoners have coped well in his absence so far with Joel Campbell in particular taking his chance to impress while the former Barcelona attacker has been on the sidelines.
Arsenal travel to Anfield sitting two points clear at the top of the Premier League table so Wenger will be hoping to cement that position with another positive result against Liverpool.
