Liverpool booked their place in the Capital One Cup final at Wembley after a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Stoke City at Anfield this evening.

The Reds took a one-goal lead in to the second leg after winning at the Britannia Stadium three weeks ago but that advantage was wiped out just before half-time.

Stoke were a danger throughout the first half and they levelled things up at 1-1 on aggregate when Marko Arnautovic tapped home from close range following a slick move in the 45th minute.

Both sides had chances to add to the scoreline after the break and in extra-time but nobody could find the winner so the game went to the dreaded penalty-shoot out.

Peter Crouch and Emre Can were the only two players to miss in the shoot-out so it ended 4-4 and went to sudden death. Marc Muniesa saw his effort well saved by Mignolet and Joe Allen made himself the hero after scoring the decisive spot kick to send Liverpool to Wembley.
