[Video Goals] Aston Villa 0-6 Liverpool: Sturridge On Target As Reds Thrash Villa

Daniel Sturridge was on target as Liverpool thrashed a despondent Aston Villa side 6-0 at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.

Sturridge made his first league start since early October and it wasn’t long before he was back among the goals as the striker opened the scoring with a neat finish in the 16th minute.

James Milner’s wide free-kick then evaded everyone in the penalty box to nestle in to the corner of Bunn’s net for 2-0 in the 25th minute to put the visitors in control at half time.

Emre Can then fired home from the edge of the area for 3-0 before Divock Origi came off the bench to make it 4-0 midway through the second half following some poor Villa defending.

Nathaniel Clyne poked home the fifth shortly after and Villa’s woes were confounded when Kolo Toure was allowed all the time in the world to head home from a corner to make it 6-0 in the 71st minute.

The win sees Villa left rooted to the bottom of the table while Liverpool climb up to eighth and to within nine points of fourth-placed Manchester City ahead of their clash with Spurs.
