The summer transfer window is now open for business so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign N’Golo Kante…
Chelsea have beaten off stiff competition from several top clubs after agreeing a deal worth £29m with Leicester City for the signing of N’Golo Kante this summer, according to Le Parisien.
Kante’s future has been the subject of much speculation in recent months after the midfielder enjoyed a sensational debut season in England having been a driving force behind Leicester’s shock Premier League title win following his move from Caen 12 months ago.
The 25-year-old has snubbed the Foxes attempts to tie him down to a new contract with the Telegraph claiming that Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd are among the clubs who’ve been showing a strong interest in signing the midfielder.
Arsene Wenger has publicly admitted his admiration of Kante and the Gunners continue to be linked with the Frenchman despite already signing Switzerland international midfielder Granit Xhaka this summer.
Jose Mourinho has been busy rebuilding the squad left behind by Louis van Gaal but the Portuguese coach is still expected to strengthen his midfield options and Kante has been one of a number of top class players linked with a move to Old Trafford.
However, it looks like Chelsea are now set to win the race for Kante’s signature as French outlet Le Parisien are reporting today that the Blues have now agreed a fee worth around £29m (€30m) with Leicester City.
That figure is higher than the £20m clause set out in the players contract but it’s understood that Chelsea have been forced to settle for an inflated price after Chinese club Shanghai SIPG tabled a whopping £35m bid.
Le Parisien go on to claim Kante is expected to sign a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge and he’ll become Antonio Conte’s second major signing of the summer following the arrival of striker Michy Batshuayi from Marseille.

Conte officially started work in west London today and the Italian tactician is expected to deploy his favoured 3-5-2 formation next season, with Kante now earmarked to play in the defensive midfield role in the new-look team.
