Transfer News: Man Utd Plot Move For £70m Attacker | Chelsea Eye £6m Midfielder
Transfer news: We’ve got news of Manchester United’s interest in a £70m attacker while Chelsea are linked with an attacking midfielder.
The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, we’ve got news of Manchester United’s interest in James Rodriguez and Chelsea are linked with an attacking midfielder….
Man Utd eye Rodriguez
First up and the Mirror are reporting that Manchester United could yet sign James Rodriguez and are ready to make a move for the £70m-rated attacker if he decides to leave Real Madrid.
Rodriguez joined Madrid from Monaco in a £56m deal back in 2014 after putting in some sensational displays for Colombia at the World Cup finals in Brazil that summer.
However, the 25-year-old has struggled to establish himself at the Bernabeu and made just 17 La Liga starts under Zinedine Zidane last season, with the attacker left on the bench for key Champions League matches including the final against Atletico Madrid.
Rodriguez could even find himself falling further down the pecking order with youngster Marco Asensio tipped to play a more prominent role this season so it’s led to speculation that the former Porto star could be on the move this summer.
And he could be heading to the Premier League as the Mirror are citing reports coming from Spanish outlet Marca that claim Man Utd are ‘ready to pounce’ if Rodriguez decides to leave Madrid.
Jose Mourinho appeared to suggest today that his business in the window will be over should they manage to wrap-up a deal for Paul Pogba but you wouldn’t bet against United pulling off a sensational deal for Rodriguez as well.

However, the club owners will have to be prepared to dig deep as the Mirror suggest Madrid will demand around £70m for the Colombian’s signature.
Chelsea eye Stanciu
Next up and staying with the Mirror, they are also reporting that Chelsea are eyeing a move for £6m-rated Steaua Bucharest attacking midfielder Nicolae Stanciu.
Antonio Conte has only brought in two new signings since being installed as Chelsea boss but he’s indicated that there will be plenty of business conducted over the coming weeks.
While a centre-back and striker are understood to be high on his priority list, the Mirror claim that Chelsea are also considering a move for Stanciu following his excellent displays for Steaua Bucharest.
The 23-year-old scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists last season while he’s also netted four times in his seven appearances for the Romanian international team this year.
Stanciu’s impressive form continued this week as he scored both goals during Steau’s 2-0 win over Sparta Prague on Wednesday night to see them progress to the final knockout stages of the Champions League qualifying campaign.
The youngster is predominantly a central attacking midfielder but is also capable of playing out on either wing, so he’d give Conte plenty of options if he was to join Chelsea this summer.

I don’t think he’d be a first team regular but he’d be a very useful squad player and at £6m, Stanciu seems like excellent value in today’s market.
