Transfer deadline day is finally here so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Here, Tottenham are linked with Morgan Schneiderlin…
Tottenham Hotspur are trying to pull-off a surprise last gasp swoop on Manchester United for out-of-favour midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to the Daily Mail.
Mauricio Pochettino is desperately trying to strengthen his squad before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm tonight and has seen an opening £16m offer for Moussa Sissoko rejected by Newcastle United.
With the Magpies reportedly demanding £30m for the midfielder, it appears Pochettino has now turned his attention to trying to pull-off what would be a major coup by luring Morgan Schneiderlin away from Old Trafford.
The Daily Mail claim that Spurs have made an approach through intermediaries to see if United to would be open to letting the French international leave over the coming hours, either on loan or on a permanent basis.
Pochettino knows Schneiderlin well from their time together at Southampton where the midfielder made his name during a seven-year spell before joining United in a big-money deal last summer.
However, the 26-year-old has fallen out-of-favour under new boss Jose Mourinho and has played just five minutes of Premier League football so far this season having come off the bench during the closing stages of United’s opening day win over Bournemouth.
Paul Pogba’s arrival from Juventus has seen Schneiderlin fall down the pecking order with Maurouane Fellaini, Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera also preferred by Mourinho in the middle of the park.

So in theory, the midfielder could be open to the idea of linking up with Pochettino again at White Hart Lane in order to get more regular first team football, however, the Daily Mail claim that Spurs have so far had little encouragement that a deal could be done.
Unless things change drastically over the coming hours, it looks as though Tottenham are going to have to continue their search and move on to other targets as Pochettino tries to bring in a midfielder before tonight’s deadline.
