Liverpool Team News: Klopp Confirms Triple Fitness Boost Ahead Of Watford
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed a major triple injury boost ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Watford on Sunday afternoon.
Liverpool will be looking to continue their excellent form when they take on Watford at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given Liverpoolfc.com a team news and injury update.
The Reds boss was pleased to confirm a triple fitness boost with three of his players overcoming illness this week meaning he has virtually a fully-fit squad to choose from this weekend.
Vice-captain James Milner was struck down with a virus earlier in the week but is now back in training and has been passed fit to face the Hornets on Sunday afternoon.
Midfielders Emre Can and Georginio Wijnaldum were also feeling under the weather this week and were forced to miss training but Klopp has confirmed the duo have now recovered and available for selection this weekend.
The German coach told the clubs website:
“It is how it always is in October, November, December. You have this kind of little bit of danger of somebody getting ill or whatever. James was a little bit more than others, but good meanwhile.
“Emre one day, Gini one day [were ill], but there are still three days to go until the day. Maybe something else will happen, we need to wait until the last second but we will do everything we can so that nothing more happens. In this moment, they are all fit.
“As a football club and a team, you always have to be really careful and when somebody says, ‘I don’t feel good’ it is ‘Go!’ because the next thing is 12 other players [are ill]. We were really sensitive with this, but in this moment everything is good.”
It will obviously come as a huge relief that Milner, Can and Wijnaldum are all fit to take on Watford and there was further positive news this week as youngster Sheyji Ojo returned to training as he bids to recover from a back injury.
It means the only significant absentee this weekend is Danny Ings after the unfortunate striker was ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.
