Ben Woodburn became Liverpool’s youngest competitive goalscorer after netting during a 2-0 victory over Leeds United in the quarter finals of the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

Jurgen Klopp made wholesale changes to the side that beat Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon and the Merseysiders took their time to open the scoring against a stubborn Leeds side.

Divock Origi – who scored the opening goal against Sunderland at the weekend – finally broke the deadlock in the 75th as poked home from  Trent Alexander-Arnold right-wing cross.

Then came the big moment for young Ben Woodburn as he came off the bench to not only double Liverpool’s lead with a lashing far post finish, but he also became the clubs youngster ever competitive goal-scorer at 17 years and 45 days old.

Liverpool have now booked their place in the semi finals of the League Cup for the second consecutive season.
