Tottenham Ready To Do Business With Man Utd Over £50m Midfielder Deal
Tottenham Hotspur are ready to do business with Manchester United and sell Eric Dier if a whopping £50m is put on the table this summer
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Tottenham are ready to sell Eric Dier to Man Utd for £50m….
Tottenham Hotspur are ready to do business with Manchester United and sell Eric Dier if a whopping £50m is put on the table this summer, according to the Telegraph.
Dier joined Spurs from Sporting Lisbon in 2014 as a raw versatile centre-back but he’s developed in to a top Premier League player over the past three years.
The 23-year-old has largely been played in defence by Mauricio Pochettino during his time at White Hart Lane but he’s also comfortable playing in his preferred holding role in midfield.
His playing time in that position has been restricted as Victor Wanyama is the preferred choice in the middle of the park so Dier has been forced to settle for the role of ‘utility man’ during his stay in north London.
Dier’s potential has caught the eye of Jose Mourinho as the England international has emerged as a key target for the United manager as he looks to bring in midfield reinforcements this summer.
Mourinho needs to find a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick – who turns 36 next month – and the Telegraph claim that Dier is the man the Portuguese coach wants on board before the start of the new season.
However, it looks as though United are going to have to be prepared to dig deep as the newspaper says that Tottenham have informed the Reds they are ready to do business over a deal for Dier but only if their £50m asking price is met.
That’s more than United were reportedly expecting to pay but the Manchester giants have vast financial resources so they are capable of paying Tottenham’s valuation if they really want to sign Dier.
It would then be down to the player to decide whether he wants to go to Old Trafford and there’s no doubt Dier would be able to demand a sizeable wage rise on the £70,000-a-week deal he signed last September.
Mourinho is also ready to offer Dier the chance to establish himself as a holding midfielder at Old Trafford so the lure of playing in his preferred position will be a tempting prospect for him.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but I think if Mourniho wants Dier badly enough he’ll get his man and the youngster has the potential to be an excellent signing for United.
