Tottenham chiefs have flown over to Amsterdam to try and trash out a deal to sign Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez amid interest from rivals Arsenal and Chelsea, according to the Evening Standard.
Sanchez has developed in to one of the most highly-rated young centre-backs in European football since joining Ajax from Colombian side Atletico Nacional last summer.
The 21-year-old enjoyed an excellent debut campaign in Holland after impressing during his 43 appearances to help Ajax finish just one point behind champions Feyenoord and reach the final of the Europa League to earn him the clubs Player of the Year Award.
The Colombian international has attracted plenty of interest from the Premier League with Football London reporting recently that Arsenal and Chelsea were planning to try and hijack Tottenham’s bid to sign the player.
Both Arsene Wenger and Antonio Conte are looking to further strengthen their squad before the end of the month and Sanchez would be a superb addition to either side if they could snatch him from under Tottenham’s nose.
However, it looks like Spurs have now stepped-up their pursuit in light of Arsenal and Chelsea’s interest with the Evening Standard claiming they’ve send a delegation over to Amsterdam to try and thrash out a deal.
Mauricio Pochettino is yet to make a single signing so far this summer but the Spurs boss has vowed to be active during the closing weeks of the window and it appears Sanchez is a primary target.
It seems an agreement could be close as the Mirror claim that Tottenham are hoping to secure a deal worth an initial £27m after the young defender made it clear he wants to move to White Hart Lane.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but Sanchez would compete with the likes of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld for a starting spot if he joins Tottenham while he’s also capable of playing at right-back if required.
