Chelsea Ready To Complete £25m Deal As Conte Kicks-Off Late Spending Spree
Chelsea are ready to complete a £25m deal to sign Inter Milan midfielder Antonio Candreva as Antonio Conte gears-up for a late summer spending spree
Chelsea are ready to complete a £25m deal to sign Inter Milan midfielder Antonio Candreva as Antonio Conte gears-up for a late summer spending spree, according to the Mirror.
Conte has made no secret of his desire to further strengthen before the transfer window slams shut as his threadbare squad isn’t capable of competing on all fronts this season.
The Blues boss has been desperately trying to land a versatile midfielder who’s capable of competing with Victor Moses in the wing-back position and Candreva has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge all summer.
It looks like a deal is now on the cards as the Mirror claim Inter are ready to sell if their £25m valuation is met and Chelsea chiefs have given Conte the green light to finalise the transfer.
The newspaper says Candreva is keen on the move to Chelsea in order to link-up with Conte having worked together during their time with the Italian national team.
The 30-year-old only moved to the San Siro from Lazio last summer and enjoyed an impressive first season having scored 8 goals as well as setting up a further 11 for his team mates but it seems he could now be heading to west London.
Candreva is capable of playing on either wing as an attacker or in the wing-back role so he’ll provide Conte with plenty of options if he does complete a move to Chelsea over the coming days.
The Italian may not be the only new arrival as the Mirror claim Conte is expected to be extremely active during the closing stages of the window with a fresh move for Danny Drinkwater in the pipeline after an opening £15m bid was rejected by Leicester.

Conte could also add to his defensive options with the newspaper stating that Virgil van Dijk and Alex Sandro remain prime targets while the Blues are also targetting a swoop for Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
