Arsenal are ready to snub interest from Liverpool and sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Chelsea in a £40m deal before the transfer window closes on Thursday night, according to the Mirror.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is in the final year of his contract and his future at the Emirates is in serious doubt as he’s refusing to sign an extension despite Arsenal’s best efforts to tie him down to fresh terms.
The Gunners don’t want to lose the versatile midfielder and were initially confident he would sign a new deal but talks have dragged on and now it seems the player is determined to leave in search of a fresh start.
Arsene Wenger has publicly said several times that Oxlade-Chamberlain wouldn’t be sold even if he didn’t sign a new deal but the landscape seems to have changed over the past week.
The Mirror claimed recently that Oxlade-Chamberlain informed Wenger during talks last week that he wouldn’t sign a new contract after snubbing the Gunners’ latest offer of £180,000-a-week as he felt a move was best for his career.
It looks like Arsenal have now decided to cash-in rather than lose the England international on a free transfer in 12 months time and Chelsea and been battling with Liverpool over his signature.
The Mirror claim the Merseysiders have been making a huge push to try and lure Oxlade-Chamberlain to Anfield as Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen his squad after booking their place in the group stages of the Champions League.
However, the newspaper says Arsenal don’t want to do business with Liverpool as they see them as a threat to their top four hopes and will instead sell Oxlade-Chamberlain to Chelsea – who Wenger believes are genuine title challengers that are certain to finish in the top four.
The report says Chelsea are prepared to meet Arsenal’s £40m asking price so the move to Stamford Bridge should be wrapped-up before the window slams shut on Thursday night.

Oxlade-Chamberlain will provide stiff competition for Victor Moses in the wing-back role while he’ll also give Conte another option in midfield so he’ll prove to be a valuable member of their squad.
