Liverpool have tabled an improved offer worth £74m in cash plus Divock Origi on loan in exchange for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, according to L’Equipe.
Lemar has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League all summer after developing in to one of the most exciting attackers in French football having scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists last season.
The 21-year-old was hotly tipped to join Arsenal earlier in the summer but Sky Sports claim the Gunners struggled to agree terms with Monaco after seeing two offers rejected.
Arsene Wenger said last week that their pursuit of the winger was ‘dead’ as he believed Monaco were refusing to sell but that doesn’t appear to have deterred Liverpool from trying to get a deal agreed.
L’Equipe claim the Merseysiders saw an offer worth £67m plus £7m in bonuses knocked back by Monaco but have now gone back in with a fresh player-plus-cash deal.
The French publication says Liverpool have told Monaco they will pay the whole £74m over two installments plus throw in Origi on loan in exchange for Lemar’s signature.
The Reds are now waiting to see how Monaco vice president Vadim Vasilyev responds to their latest offer but it looks like they are preparing to cash-in as the Ligue 1 champions are closing-in on Keita Baldé as a replacement.
The Express are reporting that Lemar is keen on a move this summer but isn’t going to force his way out of Monaco so it’s all down to the French giants to decide whether to cash-in.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Arsenal decide to renew their interest in Lemar but as of now it looks like Liverpool are in pole position to sign the French international and I think he’d be a superb addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad if they can get a deal agreed before Thursday night’s deadline.
