Chelsea and Liverpool are among the clubs to have enquired over the availability of Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic this summer, according to a report in TeamTalk.
The 28-year-old has been with Dortmund since joining the club in 2008 but has found regular first team football hard to come by in recent years and he spent time out on loan with RB Zeipzig last season.
Subotic is being tipped to leave the Westfalonstadion once again before the transfer window closes on Thursday night as he has just one year left on his contract and isn’t expected to sign a new deal.
The defender is attracting plenty of interest from the Premier League as TeamTalk are citing a report from the Mirror that claims Chelsea and Liverpool are among the clubs who have enquired about his availability.
Antonio Conte and Jurgen Klopp are both expected to be active during the closing days of the transfer window and the managers are being tipped to strengthen their defensive options.
Both Chelsea and Liverpool are also being linked with Virgil van Dijk so the duo could be lining-up Subotic as a back-up option if they miss out or Southampton refuse to sell the Dutch international.
However, they will face plenty of competition for Subotic’s signature as the newspaper report says Leicester, Stoke and West Brom are also in for the Serbian international and can offer him regular football.
Liverpool boss Klopp knows Subotic well from their time together at Dortmund as they won two Bundesliga titles together in 2010 and 2012 so the defender could be open to the idea of a reunion at Anfield.

But I’m sure he’d also be tempted by the prospect of playing for the current Premier League champions so it will be interesting to see where he ends up if Chelsea and Liverpool formalise their interest.
