Arsenal ‘Confident’ Of Beating Liverpool To Lemar As City Close On £60m Sanchez
Arsenal are confident of beating Liverpool to the signing of Thomas Lemar as Manchester City close-in on a £60m deal for Alexis Sanchez
Deadline day is here and managers are frantically trying to get those last minute deals over the line so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are back in for Thomas Lemar…
Arsenal are confident of beating Liverpool to the signing of Thomas Lemar as Manchester City close-in on a £60m deal for Alexis Sanchez, according to Guillem Balague.
Sanchez is being strongly linked with a move to the Etihad on deadline day after making it clear to Arsenal he won’t sign an extension to his current one-year contract.
Arsene Wenger has insisted all summer that the Chilean international wouldn’t be sold even if he didn’t sign a new deal but City are testing that resolve today.
After seeing their opening £50m bid rejected, Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague claims City are now close to agreeing a deal after submitting an improved offer of £55m up front with £5m in odd ons.
Balague says Arsenal have asked City for time to secure a replacement with the Gunners believed to be confident of signing Monaco attacker Thomas Lemar.
The pundit tweeted:
Alexis close to sign for City for £55 + £5. Arsenal asked for few hours to sign Thomas Lemar, which they confident they are going to do

The French international has been strongly linked with Arsenal all summer but L’Equipe reported earlier this week that Liverpool had entered the chase for Lemar’s signature after tabling a £74m bid.
However, according to Balague it’s Arsenal who believe they will be able to strike a deal for the 21-year-old which would allow Sanchez to complete his £60m move to City.
